The University of Cairo was a partner in this important cultural event, and we hope that the film will help to promote cultural understanding between Egypt and Germany. Thank you to everyone for attending and supporting culture and the arts. On the evening of Thursday, June 8th, as part of its cultural activities, the University of Cairo's Foreign Languages and Specialized Translation Center screened the German film "Goodbye Lenin." The event was attended by a group of students from the German Language Department at the Faculty of Arts - University of Cairo, as well as students studying German at the center. Prior to the film screening, there was a literary historical presentation given by Dr. Alia Khatib, a professor of German literature at the Faculty of Arts - University of Cairo, and a commentary by the art critic Mr. Ahmed El-Zoghbi on "the history of German cinema." The screening was also accompanied by an explanation from Dr. Aminia El-Feki about some of the scenes and their relationship to the period addressed in the film. The event was graced with the participation of Professor Dr. Sayed Kasab, professor and head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Cairo, who gave a speech on what students should focus on in their university life, including blending academic and practical life, cultural activities, and community participation. At the end of the cultural evening, Professor Dr. Dalia Abu Al-Fatouh Salama, a professor of German language at the Faculty of Arts - University of Cairo, distributed certificates of appreciation to outstanding students and learners. The center bid farewell to its cultural evening guests with a promise of another meeting with a new film.
